Panoramic and Skyline Portfolio

Panoramic and Skyline Portfolio

Welcome to the panoramic photographic art of Carroll Morgan, now located in Charlottesville, VA. I create high resolution, large megapixel panoramic images of city skylines, buildings, and interior building spaces. These panos are unique and striking, and I invite you to view some examples below. (They are large images, so please be patient as they load!)

I capture these panos during the “golden hour” (that magic few minutes just before sunrise or after sunset). This allows me to control the lighting contrast and highlight the beautiful city lights and streaking cars lights. This type of panoramic image is very difficult to create because of the quickly changing light quality.

Few, if any, photographers capture perfect images that incorporate all of these ingredients:

  1. Shot before sunrise or after sunset
  2. Include properly balanced city lights
  3. Show the motion of the city by registering streaking car head and tail lights
  4. Are technically perfect
  5. Can reproduce to almost any size

Creating stunning panoramic images requires great locations, suitable weather conditions, perching on top of a windy building for a couple of hours, and many hundreds of high resolution RAW images. But the magic really takes place in post production after the shoot. Sometimes while I am shooting I have a preconceived idea how the final image might look. Frequently, though, the image that emerges is exciting and radically different than what I perceived.

If you are interested in viewing some very large prints in person and you are in the  Charlottesville, Richmond or Washington, D.C. area, please call me at (404) 556-6821. Interested in discussing a panoramic art commission or licensing of any of these unique images for wall art, marketing, or advertising? Please call.

Taking pictures from boring locations is not what I do. If you have an idea that involves an unusual vistas from which to shoot. Please contact me if you have suggestions. Thank you!

I was asked to write a paper on an on site photographer. As I was searching through the web I stubbled upon your site and was blown away with your amazing photos. I fell in love with the skyline series with all the vibrant colors and use of every little light source all the way down to the street lights. I was so intrigued with your work and was able to share with the rest of my studio lighting class your incredible work!

Thank you for the kind words, Julie. What is the name of your class and what school are you in?

Hi Dee, I can shoot ’em pretty good. I need a business partner to make it happen with potential clients. Do you know anyone? Thanks.

I love, love, love the way you capture the heartbeat of my city. Truly breathtaking. Do you make your own prints? Is it possible to get one without a watermark on it? Your pictures are so beautiful, I feel my eyes welling up. I’m a transplant, but Atlanta is where my heart belongs now.

Thank you, Jarz. Yes, Atlanta is a pretty neat town to shoot panos in. Feel free to email or call to discuss a print purchase.
